HAMILTON — It was a fun ride for the Butte Central Maroons.
One day after upsetting defending champion Polson at the Class A State softball tournament at the Hamilton Athletic Complex, the Maroons ended the seasons of Livingston and Laurel with loser-out victories.
Central, though, fell to Columbia Falls to end the season Friday.
The Maroons beat Livingston in a wild 10-9 game before slipping past Laurel 3-2. Columbia Falls, the No. 1 seed from the Northwestern A, topped the Maroons 10-0.
After starting 1-9, BC ends the season at 11-13. Central finished one win away from playing on Saturday of State.
Junior shortstop Brooke Badovinac and senior pitcher Sofee Thatcher led the Maroons once again.
Badovinac hit two more home runs and drove in nine RBIs on Day 2 of the tournament. She went 9 for 16 with three bombs, three doubles, a triple and 11 RBIs on the tournament. She raised her average just one point to .558 on the season.
Thatcher, who pitched all but three innings, went 9 for 15 with a home run, three double sand three RBIs on the tournament. She finishes the season hitting .519.
Seniors Maggie Stimatz, Brenna Foley, juniors Hattie Mehring, Jaeden Berger and Mia Keeley, and sophomores Cloe Stillwagon, Renee Creekmore and Angelina O’Rourke also contributed for the Maroons, who went 10-4 in May.

It was almost the one that got away.
The Rangers rallied for six runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 9-8 lead in a game BC led8-2 after four innings.
The Maroons, though, rallied for two runs in the bottom of the frame for the win.
Badovinac singled Thatcher in to tie the game. Then Badovinac came home on a double by Keeley.
Thatcher and Badovinac each smacked three hits. Badovinac went 3 for 4 with a homer, triple and six — yes six — RBIs. Thatcher went 3 for 3 with a homer, two doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored.
Thatcher also pitched the distance, striking out 10, for the victory.
Foley, Creekmore and Stimatz added singles for the Maroons.
Kenna Benzel hit a homer and a double to drive in two runs for the Rangers. Tess Goosey went 3 for 4 with a double. Taylor Young hit a double and a sing, and Erika Haines doubled.

A three-run Badovinac bomb lifted the Maroons in this one.
The blast scored Hattie Mehring and Thatcher, after the two Maroons singled. It turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
The Maroons did their damage on three hits. Thatcher and Mehring both smoked two singles, and Foley hit one.
Thatcher pitched the distance for the victory.
Taylor Feller doubled, and Shelbi Block hit two singles to lead the Locomotives, who entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed from the Southeastern A.

The Maroons ran out of gas against the powerhouse Wildkats.
Haden Peters homered, while Haylee Lawrence, Sydney Mann and Demye Rensel doubled in the win that was called after five innings by the 10-run rule.
The Maroons were held to two hits, a double by Badovinac and a single by Thatcher.
