Maroons unveil schedules

The Butte Central Maroons released their sports schedules for the 2018-19 seasons Monday.

BC opens the football season at home Aug. 31 against Ronan. That game will be played at Montana Tech’s Alumni Coliseum, which will serve as BC’s home field for the sixth straight season.

The season opener will be the first of four regular-season home games for the Maroons. After trips to Whitefish and Libby, the Maroons will host Dillon Sept. 21 and Frenchtown Sept. 28.

BC will travel to Hamilton before playing their home finale Oct. 12 against Stevensville. BC then closes the regular season Oct. 19 in Corvallis.

Central begins practice Aug. 10, and the Maroon-White Scrimmage will be Aug. 18.

The Maroons will also scrimmage in volleyball that day. The Maroons open the volleyball season Aug. 24 at the Western A Tipoff Tournament in Browning.

BC’s first home match is Sept. 8 against Belgrade. The Maroons will host the Blocktober Classic Oct. 13 at the Maroon Activities Center.

The cross country runners from BC open the season Aug. 24 at the Park Invite in Livingston. Central will host the BC Invite Sept. 4 at Fairmont Hot Springs.

The only other local meet for the Maroons will be at the Butte High Invitational, which is Sept. 22 at Stodden Park.

Central’s golf team will host the season-opening BC Invite Aug. 13 at the Highland View Golf Course.

The Maroons also released their schedules for wrestling and basketball. The Maroon mattmen will open the season Nov. 30 at the Havre Invitational. BC’s basketball teams begin the season Dec. 7 at the Northwest/Southwest Tipoff Tournament in Missoula.
