Maroons top Beavers in 4

HAMILTON  — Butte Central beat Dillon 3-1 Thursday night at the Southwestern A Divisional volleyball tournament.

Danee Leary notched 14 kills, 26 digs and two and a half blocks to lead the way as the Maroons knocked off the Beavers 25-21, 15-25, 25-20, 25-19.

The Maroons (9-4) play Anaconda at 1 p.m. Friday. The Maroons are the No. 3 seed, while Anaconda, which had a bye, is No. 2. The winner of that match advances to play in the 7 p.m. undefeated semifinal match. The loser plays in a loser-out match at 5 p.m.

The Copperheads and Maroons split in the regular season, with each team winning on its home court.

Mariah Cooney added 11 kills and two and a half blocks in the win for the Maroons. Danika Neumann, who served five aces, collected 22 digs. Shannon McLaughlin (16) and Taylor Marthaller (12) reached double digits in assists.

Hamilton, which beat Stevensville Thursday, will play No. 1 Corvallis at 11 a.m. Friday.
