The Butte Central Maroons took their victory lap around the Mining City Monday afternoon.

Two days after winning the Class A state championship, the BC girls’ basketball team braved the cold, windy conditions to ride on top of the Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department’s ladder truck to parade through the streets of Butte.

Before the team boarded the fire truck, Butte-Silver Bow Chief Executive Matt Vincent read a proclamation declaring March 14, 2016 as “2016 Butte Central Girls’ Basketball Team Day” in the Mining City. (Read proclamation here)

The Maroons beat Columbia Falls 55-48 Saturday night at the Belgrade Special Events Center to claim the championship. The Maroons completed the season at 24-0, the first undefeated season in the history of high school girls’ basketball in Butte.
