Maroons stifle Park High in home opener, move to 4-0

The Butte Central Maroons had their home opener at the MAC as they played host to Park High. The Maroons wasted no time to get this going as they opened up the first period on the run led by Josh Sutton, the Maroons would take a 20-6 lead into the second quarter.

Park didn’t give in as they began the second with two triples and played full court press to cut their deficit to 22-14 with 5:47 left to play in the first half. Park would get another easy lay in to cut the lead to 7 leading to a Brodie Kelly 30 second timeout with just over 5 to play.

Jack Keeley would take the ball down court out of the timeout and drive the lane for two 25-16 Maroons. Park refused to go away as they hit a 3 pointer with just over a minute to go to cut it to 28-22 but not before Owen “Big Shot McPartland” drilled a 3 of his own to push the lead back to 9 with 24 seconds in the first half and the Maroons would take a 31-22 lead to the half.

With 5:42 to go in the 3rd senior Jack Keeley drove the lane and was fouled to complete the old fashioned 3 point play, and give the Maroons a 38-24 lead.

The Maroons would catch fire after another Jack Keeley bucket and the Maroons lead would blossom to 18 points as they led 44-26 with 4:02 to play in the 3rd period.

Dawning his brothers old number 12, Ryan Peoples sunk a 3 ball with just under 6 to play and the Maroons would lead 62-36. Park couldn’t get anything going in the second half as the young Maroons kept forcing the issue and spreading the ball around.

The Maroons move to 4-0 on the season as they crush Park 75-42.

The Maroons were led by Owen McPartland with 15 points, Josh Sutton had 12, Parker Robertson had 10, Zane Moodry had 8, Jack Keeley had 7, Pat Stimatz had 3, and Coy Campbell and Justice McGee each ha 2 a piece.

The Maroons will return to action this Saturday as they are set to take on Polson.
