Maroons start fast, win big in tournament opener

FRENCHTOWN — Butte Central’s boys’ basketball team jumped out to a quick double-digit lead Friday, and the Maroons rolled to a 62-43 win over Whitefish at Frenchtown High School.

The game was part of the Western A Tipoff tournament.

Braden Harrington and Trevor Neuman combined for 30 points to lead the Maroons in the season opener. Harrington hit three 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead the way. Neumann scored 11 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter.

All nine Maroons in the book scored points. Luke Heaphy hit three 3-pointers to join Jared Simkins with nine points, and Ryan Wahl buried a pair of long balls to score six points.

BC also got two points apiece from Gator Yelenich, Bryan Holland, Aaron Richards and Thomas McGree.

Justin Conklin hit four 3- pointers and scored 14 points to lead the Bullodgs. Talon Holmquist scored 12 points.

The Maroons will play Ronan at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Frenchtown Middle School.
