FRENCHTOWN — Saturday was another good day for the Butte Central volleyball team.
The Maroons made short work of the Broncs, sweeping them away for a 25-14, 25-16, 25-18 Southwestern A win. The victory was the second of the week for BC, which swept East Helena on Thursday.
“We put together a pretty solid game today,” BC coach Becky Hancock said. “Serving and blocking started off strong for us, and everything else fell into place.”
The usual suspects led the Maroons at the net. Sofee Thatcher tallied nine kills, while Ella Moodry followed with eight, and Brooke Badovinac spiked six and blocked two.
It was the not so usual, though, that Hancock pointed to. Mollie Drew registered three kills, while Kinley Hamilton chipped in with a kill and three solo stuff blocks.
“Kinley Hamilton and Mollie Drew really stepped up in their roles today and did a great job in our front row — something we have been needing and working on with getting them more involved in our offense,” Hancock said. “Overall, it was a good team win for us.”
Thatcher also led the Maroons in the backcourt with 13 digs. Maycee Anderson dug 10, and Mia Keeley dished up 26 assists and served a pair of aces.
Butte Central is back in action Thursday when the Maroons play host to Stevensville.
