Maroons set out to defend title

By John Robbins

As the buzzer sounds for a new season to kick off this weekend at the Tip-Off tournament in Frenchtown, Coach Brodie Kelly and The Butte Central Maroons have a returning buzzer beater themselves in senior guard Dougie Peoples, as the Maroons are set for a rematch of the Class A State Championship against Lewistown.

For those that don’t remember, Peoples put on his superman cape and the now returning Senior hit a 27-footer as time expired to give the Maroons their first title since 92. Peoples, who led class A in scoring for the past two years is returning along with four other seniors. Senior guard Kyle Holter who was all state last year, Eric Loos who earned 2nd team all-conference, Riley Gelling, and Konnor Porchervina.

Coach Brodie Kelly is excited to kick off the season although they will be without senior Eric Loos for the rematch, he is excited to see Dougie and the other seniors lead the team this year and defend their title.

The Maroons will tip-off Friday December 9th @ 6pm Frenchtown High School against Lewistown for the title rematch.
