Maroons qualify five to State

DILLON — Five Butte Central wrestlers will move on.

Led by champions Clay Stillwagon and Zach Hart, Butte Central qualified five wrestlers for next week’s Class A State tournament in Billings Saturday at the Southwestern A Divisional meet at the B.W. Lodge Gym.

“I was pretty pleased with how well they wrestled today,” BC coach Robin Moodry said.

Stillwagon won the 98-pound division, while Hart wrestled to the title in the 135 pound weight class.

Keighton Svejkovsky qualified by placing second at 140 pounds. Bryce Noctor took third at 105, while Sean Cooney took fourth at 119.

Cooney is a freshman, while Stillwagaon, Hart, Svejkovsky and Noctor are sophomores. Stillwagon placed fourth at State as a freshman. Hart took fourth.

Liam Dornan just missed out on making state with a fifth-place finish at divisionals. 1 comment

Congratulations Coach Robin on getting 5 to state. Just need more wrestlers like back in the early 80s. Good luck Maroons at state.
