Maroons post victories in track tune up

BELGRADE — Butte Central track athletes brought home a handful of titles from the Senior Night meet Friday. (Results)

Rachael McGree led the way in the four-team meet, continuing her strong junior season with a pair of victories. She jumped to a title in the triple jump with a mark of 34 feet, 10 ¼ inches.

McGree ran to victory in 14.61 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.

She also ran a leg of the victorious 400-meter relay team. Her sisters Lindsay and Whitney McGree also ran a leg along with cousin Lacey McGree. The four McGrees posted a winning time of 51.83 seconds.

Whitney McGree added a victory with a time of 27.85 seconds in the 200, while Lindsay McGree placed second in the long jump and third in the 100.

Also for the Butte Central girls, Abby McGee won the 800 in 2 minutes, 33.85 seconds. Aidan Dennehy took third in the javelin, while Katy Prendergast placed fifth in the discus.

On the boys’ side, Nate McGree chalked up another victory in the triple jump, leaping 41-4.

Kyle Schulte, who placed third in the shot put, won the discus with a mark of 148-4. Kyle Harrington ran to victory in the 100 in 11.58.

BC’s 400-meter relay team claimed victory in 49.52. Running for the Maroons were Harrington, Blake Burton, Cole Harper and Nate McGree.

Harper added a second in the 200 and a third in the 400, while Burton took third in the javelin and fourth in the 100.

Also for BC, Cade Holter took second in the 110 hurdles, Jake Michelotti placed fifth in the discus, Clay Fisher jumped to sixth in the long jump, and Ethan St. John took sixth in the shot put and discus.

The Maroons will compete at the Western A Divisional meet next week in Frenchtown.
