Butte Central posted eight victories against the East Helena Vigilantes Tuesday at Stodden Park.
The Maroon girls knocked off East Helena, which only brought six girls to town, 5-2 in the non-conference dual.
Marissa Anderson, Patience Mitchell and Kate Johnston won singles matches for the BC girls. Maycee Anderson fell in a 10-8 heartbreaker at No. 2 singles.
Avery Kelly and Mati McGree won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles. Payton Hartwick and Sage Wall did the same at No. 2 doubles.
Butte Central’s four boys played six matches against the Vigilantes, and the Maroons won three of them. Eric Hart won a 10-2 tiebreaker for a singles victory. Drew Badovinac and Nick Lester won two doubles matches.
“Every meet I see the improvements we work on in practice and I start to see the game being pieced together,” Butte Central coach Becky Hancock said. “We are getting to where we need to be, as we near post season. The boys have been getting some extra matches in at some of these meets, and that competitive play is what they need right now. The girls’ side was strong, and overall everyone played really well today.”
The Maroons have a bit of a break before their next action, which is May 13 in Livingston.
