Maroons name football captains

Four Maroons were recently selected as captains of the 2013 Butte Central football team, the school announced today.

The players will lead BC into the 2013 season, which will begin on the weekend of August 30-31 in Butte when the Maroons host former Central A rival Belgrade.

Kale Guldseth, Connor McGree, Connor Schulte, and Wyatt Kingston were selected by their teammates.

McGree is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound tight end and defensive end. In 2012, he caught 44 passes for 698 yards and 7 touchdowns.  He was named first-team all-conference at tight end, second-team all-conference at defensive end, and first-team All-State at tight end in 2012.

Guldseth is a 5-10, 150-pound wide receiver and corner back. In 2012, he caught for 67 passes for 832 yards and 8 touchdowns.  His 67 catches set a new school record for the most receptions in a single season.  He also had 3 interceptions as a cornerback. He was named first-team all-conference and All-State  as a wide receiver in 2012.

Schulte is a 5-10, 235-pound tackle and defensive lineman. In 2012, he was named second-team all-conference as a tackle and received honorable mention as a defensive lineman.

Kingston is a 5-10, 180-pound running back, wide receiver, outside linebacker and kick returner.  In 2012 he caught 31 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns.  He also rushed for 114 yards and 3 touchdowns as a running back.  He was named second team all-conference as a wide receiver, outside linebacker, and return specialist in 2012.

“We are excited about our 4 captains,” BC coach Don Peoples, Jr. said. “They have done a great job in our strength and conditioning program this off-season and we look forward to their leadership this summer.”

The Maroons will attend the Montana Tech Team Camp June 17-19, and will hold their own camp July 22-25. Training camp will begin on August 16 in preparation for the season opener.
