Maroons go off for 87 in rout of Corvallis

CORVALLIS — Butte Central’s boys’ basketball team lit up the scoreboard Thursday night.

Dougie Peoples scored 28 points, and fellow junior Kyle Holter tossed in 20 as the Maroons rolled to an 87-51 Southwestern A win over Corvallis.

The 87 points is a season high for the Maroons. Their previous high was 67 points scored two nights earlier against Livingston.

The Maroons did most of their damage in the middle two quarters, outscoring the Blue Devils 49-20 over the second and third quarters.

Peoples scored 19 of his points over that time. Holter scored 11.

Senior guard Bryson Sestrich joined Peoples and Holter in double figures with 17 points. Junior Eric Loos scored seven for BC, which got five points from sophomore Zane Moodry four from sophomore Jack Keeley and Senior Joseph Sehulster and two from senior Gage Guldseth.

Riley Gelling, George Riojas and Drew Badovinac also contributed as BC improved to 11-1 overall and 7-1 in league play.

Donovan Potter scored 13 to lead Corvallis (2-11, 1-5). Aaron Powell and Tyle Weis each scored 10, and David Broch tossed in eight.

The Maroons continue their busy week Saturday when they play host to East Helena in a 4 p.m. game at the Maroon Activities Center.
