STEVENSVILLE — Butte Central had the finishing touch Thursday night.
The Maroons split the first two sets of a Southwestern A volleyball match with the Stevensville Yellowjackets. BC squeaked out a 25-23 win before falling 25-21 in the second set.
Then, the Maroons took over and quickly finished the Yellowjackets with wins of 25-8, 25-19.
“We kind of struggled in Game 1 and 2 with getting going,” BC coach Becky Hancock said. “But once we did, we rolled with it.”
Brooke Badovinac had a huge night to lead the way for the Maroons. She finished with 13 kills, three stuff blocks, nine digs and four aces.
“Serving once again was key for us, and our defense did a nice job making adjustments,” Hancock said. “Brooke Badovinac had a solid game for us tonight. She dominated up there on the net. I’m proud of how we responded after Game 2. It was a good road win for us.”
Sofee Thatcher added 12 kills and 10 digs for BC. Ella Moodry spiked nine kills, while Mia Keeley turned in 34 assists, seven digs and two aces.
Maycee Anderson led the backcourt with 14 digs. Brenna Foley joined Thatcher with 10. Mollie Drew, Payton Hartwick and Kinley Hamilton also contributed in the victory.
The Maroons will close out the season Saturday with a 4 p.m. match with Hamilton at the Maroon Activities Center. Central will be celebrating Senior Night.
