Maroons fall just short on senior day

In their regular season finale, the Butte Central Lady Maroons put up one heck of a fight and hit the ball the best they have all spring against some really good pitching from East Helena.

The Maroons honored their 4 seniors before the first pitch was thrown, those players were Brooke Badovinac, Hattie Mehring, Jaden Berger, and Mia Keeley, who were all accompanied by parents and family members.

The Maroons played well and were right in the mix of things, a 3rd inning 3 run bomb by The Vigilantes allowed them to hold a lead and end up winning this one 9-5 over Central.

Senior Hattie Mehring got the start on the bump for the Lady Maroons and also had a run offensively, Brooke “The Assassin” Badovinac blasted 2 doubles one of which scored 2 runs she was also walked one time and scored, Jaden Berger, and Arika Stajcar each scored a run, Kathryn Lalicker was 1-3 with a run, and 8th grader Alexis Morey went 2-4 with 2 singles and an RBI.

Belle Surginer, who recently just signed with Providence of Great Falls blasted the 3 run shot in the 3rd inning.

The Maroons scored 5 runs on 5 hits while East Helena scored 9 runs on 8 hits.

The Lady Maroons will head to Frenchtown for the Western A Divisional Softball Tournament on Friday and Saturday this week.
