Maroons face long road in football in 2014

The Butte Central football team will open the 2014 season by playing four of its first five games on the road.

The school unveiled its 2014-15 schedules today, and the Maroons will play just one home football game before their  Oct. 3 homecoming game against Dillon.

BC begins practice Aug. 15. The Maroons will open the season Aug. 29 at Belgrade. Followed by a game in Livingston, BC will play Billings Central on Sept. 12 on Montana Tech’s Bob Green Field.

The Maroons play at Hardin on Sept. 19, and they open the Southwestern A season at Corvallis Sept. 26.

They follow the Dillon game by hosting Anaconda for a final time as a conference opponent. The Copperheads will move to Class B in the 2015-16 school year.

BC then plays at Stevensville before closing the regular season at home against Hamilton. BC’s schedule once again lists each week of the playoffs and the state title game, which is Nov. 22.

In volleyball, the Maroons also begin practice on Aug. 15. They open the season at a tournament in Frenchtown. BC’s home opener is Thursday, Sept. 11 against Dillon.

The BC cross country team, which begins practice Aug. 15 as well, runs for the first time at Livingston on Aug. 29. The Butte Central Invitational at Fairmont Hot Springs is Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The first golf meet for the Maroons is Aug. 18 at the Anaconda Invite on the Old Works Golf Course. The Butte Central Invitational is tentatively set for Sept. 20 at the Highland View Golf Course.
