Maroons double up Maidens to close tourney

FRENCHTOWN — Butte Central’s softball team pounded 18 hits Saturday as the Maroons closed the Frenchtown tournament at 2-2 with a 10-5 win over Ronan.

The victory came hours after Central beat Browning 33-0.

Brooke Badovinac had another big game from the leadoff spot for the Maroons. She went 4 for 4 with a triple, two doubles and four RBIs. On the day, she poked nine hits and drove in 14 runs batted in.

Mia Keeley went 3 for 4 with a triple, and Jaeden Berger smoked three hits for the Maroons. Brenna Foley, Maci Reopelle and Kathryn Lalicker each added two hits. Maggie Stimatz doubled, and Maddi Kump singled.

Kump also pitched the distance to pick up the victory that raised BC’s record to 5-6. The Maroons are back in action Tuesday when they take on Dillon at Stodden Park.
