Maroons come back in Dillon, win 5th straight

DILLON — Butte Central won its fifth straight softball game Tuesday, but not before making things very interesting.

The Maroons fell behind 5-0 in the first inning before battling back to beat Dillon 14-6 in a Southwestern A game.

Freshman Corby Holm continued her torrid streak at the plate, going 3 for 5 with four RBIs to lead the BC offense in the comeback. Teresa Piazzola went 4 for 5 with an RBI, Mollie Peoples went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Shawnee Hjelt went 2 for 3 with two RBIs

Piazzola struck out nine batters in improving to 9-3 on the season. She scattered four hits and walked two. The Beavers also took advantage of two big BC errors.

The Maroons (10-5 overall and 8-1 in conference) will be back in action Thursday when they head to Anaconda to take on the Copperheads.

BC will host the annual Laverne Combo Invitational Friday and Saturday.
