CORVALLIS — Brady Tippett had a hand in five touchdowns Friday as the Butte Central football team earned their way back into the playoffs.

In all, five different Butte Central players scored touchdowns as the Maroons beat Corvallis 50-20 in a Southwestern A victory.

The win puts BC back in the playoffs for sure. The Maroons can still win the conference title with an upset season-ending win over defending Class A State champion Dillon next week in Butte.

Last year, the Maroons saw a 10-year run of playoff appearances come to an end.

The Maroons (3-1 in conference, 4-4 overall) scored in every quarter en route to their third straight win to make sure that didn’t happen again.

Joe Joyce scored on a 3-yard run and then ran in a 2-point conversion as the Maroons took the lead for good at 8-0 early in the first quarter.

Tippett, who scored on runs of 2, 1 and 3 yards, made it 15-0 with his first touchdown and Danny Peoples extra point.

The Blue Devils (0-4, 0-7), though, went down fighting on their Senior Night.

Branden Butt made the Maroons pay for a fumble with a 15-yard run to cut the lead to 15-8 in the second quarter.

Wyatt Kingston scored from a yard out to extend the BC lead to 22-8 at halftime. Tippett’s next two TD runs in the third quarter extended that lead to 36-8.

Butt hit Blake Sylvester for a 22-yard TD pass and Sam Burdette scored on a 7-yard run for the Blue Devils, who were shut out in the first three league games.

In between those scors, Kale Guldseth caught a 6-yard TD pass from Tippett and Dalton Sessions caught a 28-yard TD strike from Tippett. The Sessions TD was the first in varsity play for the sophomore.

Tippett completed 13 of 19 passes for 191 yards. Butt completed 17 of 31 for 262.
