Maroons buck Broncs in OT

HAMLTON — Butte Central hit free throws when it had to, and Bryan “Hugo” Holland hit a crucial 3-pointer Saturday as the Maroons beat Hamilton 60-54 in a Southwestern A overtime thriller.

The win lifted the BC boys to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in conference.

Central sank 7 of 10 free throws in the extra period. Holland’s trey was the only BC field goal in OT.

Drew Badovinac hit four free throws in OT. Kyle Holter hit two, and Egan Lester sank one as BC outscored Hamilton 10-4 in overtime.

Dougie Peoples scored a game-high 16 points, all in regulation. The Maroon sophomore fouled out in the fourth quarter. Bryson Sestrich hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points for BC, which got 11 from Holland and 10 from Kyle Holter.

Joseph Sehulster joined Badovinac with four points, and Lester scored three.

Austin Drake came off the bench to score 15 points, and Liam O’Connell and Eli Taylor each scored 10 for Hamilton, which fell to 4-4 and 2-2. Colter Kirkland scored eight.

The Maroons are back in action Tuesday when they play host to Anaconda in a non-conference game at the Maroon Activities Center.
