Maroons bounce back, stay alive

BELGRADE — Butte Central rebounded today at the Class A State softball tournament.

The Maroons beat Glendive 6-0 in a loser-out game. The Maroons will play Billings Central at 4 p.m.

Teresa Piazzola went the distance, holding Glendive to three hits.

“She looked like her old self,” BC coach Kelci Thatcher said.

Seniors Taylor Marthaller, Hannah Stajcar, Shannon McLaughlin and Katie Hogart to lead the BC offense and keep their season alive. Marthaller and Stajcar doubled.

“They looked good today,” Thatcher said of her team.

Rams held off Livingston 10-7 in a loser-out game at the same time.

The last time the Maroons faced the Rams, Butte Central had a meltdown. The Rams won 15-1 two weeks ago at the Laverne Combo Invitational in Butte.

Thatcher said her team heads into the Billings Central game with something to prove.

“It will be a good game to show them that we’re not the team they saw at the Laverne Combo,” the coach said.
