The Butte Central Maroon Volleyball team hit the road Tuesday night for a Southwestern A match with the Frenchtown Broncs. Both teams are coming off a long weekend of tournament play at Butte Centrals Bloctober Classic. The teams played a full 5 game match tonight showing very little fatigue from the weekend.
Maroon Head Coach Becky Hancock summed up the match. “We came out strong, with limited unforced errors in the 1st game. 2nd game we came back from a 17-23 deficit, to win 25-23. 3rd & 4th games the little things caught up to us, but we finished strong in the 5th.”
The Maroons lost the third and fourth sets by the same scores 21-25. The Maroons dominated the 5th set shutting down any hope Frenchtown had for a comeback with a 15-5 win. The win puts the Maroon season record at 7-4.
Hancock pointed out, “Consistency & communication needs to be our key focus right now in all rotations, come practice. The way we play when our backs are against the wall, is how we need to be playing from the start…. that team & play is resilient”.
The BC girls were led by Maycee Anderson and Mollie Drew in the back court with 17 and 15 digs respectfully. Mea Keeley and Ella Moodry each added a dozen digs.
Brooke Badovinac finished with 12 kills to go with Moodry’s 11 which cam off of 30 assists from Keeley.
The Maroons will be back on the MAC court Saturday when the host East Helena at 4pm. Butte Central will be honoring the Seniors and their parents before the game.
