Maroon comeback attempt falls short in Hamilton

HAMILTON — Butte Central’s girls’ basketball team couldn’t overcome a fast Hamilton start Thursday night, and the Broncs beat the Maroons 41-35 in a Southwestern A battle on the Dale Barry Court.

The Maroons trailed 30-12 at halftime, but outscored the Broncs 23-11 after the break. The game was the fourth in seven nights for the Maroons.

Lauren Ryter scored 13 points to lead the Broncs (3-4 overall, 1-1 in conference). Abby Johnson tallied seven points, while Jorden Taggert scored six and Maggie Ringer tossed in five.

Emma Keeley once again reached double digits, leading the Maroons with 12 points. Tricia Joyce scored 10 for BC, and Sofee Thatcher scored nine.

Thatcher and Keeley each sank three 3-poitners. The Maroons also got two points apiece from Shea Davis and Avery Kelly.

The Maroons (1-5 and 1-2) are off until they host Dillon Jan. 4.
