Maroon boys buck Broncs, run record to 3-0

FRENCHTOWN — Make it 3 for 3 for the Butte Central boys’ basketball team.

Butte Central jumped out to a commanding lead and held on for a 55-45 Southwestern A victory over Frenchtown Friday night. The win lifts BC to 3-0 on the young season.

Senior Cade Holter scored 11 points to lead the Maroons in the conference opener. Junior Braden Harrington scored all of this 10 points in the third quarter, helping BC take a 40-22 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Maroons led 14-10 after the first quarter and 28-16 at halftime.

Dylan Sestrich, Gator Yelenich and Aaron Richards each tossed in eight points in the win. Jared Simkins and Luke Heaphy netted five apiece.

Brandon Finley shot 8 for 8 from the free throw line and scored 12 points to lead the Broncs (2-1, 0-1), who scored 19 points from the charity stripe.

Caleb Baker added 11 points for Frenchtown, while Hank Rugg scored nine, Ben Larson tossed in eight, and Mason Pyron scored five.

The Maroons are back in action Saturday with a 4 p.m. game at Stevensville.
