The Maroon Activities Center will sponsor a basketball academy style training program this summer.
The Southwest Montana Basketball Academy will offer one-on-one instruction, small group play, and mini-camp basketball training opportunities for boys and girls in grades 4-12. A 6-week strength and conditioning program for young female athletes will also be offered.
The basketball training program will offer individualized skill development opportunities for players of all levels. From beginners to the varsity level, the SWMBA will focus on helping players gain confidence on the court, improve as players, and enjoy the game of basketball. The program will work with players to develop shooting, scoring, ball handling, passing, rebounding and defensive skills.
Interested players may sign up for one-on-one and small group sessions on a per hour basis. The first session of the strength and conditioning program for the young female athletes will begin June 10 and continue through July 16.
The program, which will be open to girls entering 6th grade through high school, will focus on enhancing athletic performance, improving strength and flexibility, and reducing injury rates. The program will feature three 1-hour training sessions each week for six weeks.
The basketball and strength programs will be directed by Quinn Peoples, a former Montana State University Billings standout basketball player. Several other current college players and high school coaches will also be involved in providing instruction.
For additional information on the program or to register, interested parents can call the Maroon Activities Center at 723-6706 or contact Quinn Peoples at 498-8246 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
