Marcus Ferriter starts opener for Montana State

MOSCOW, Idaho — It didn’t take long for Marcus Ferriter to crack the starting lineup for the Montana State Bobcats.

The former Butte Central star started on the defensive line for the Bobcats in Thursday night’s 20-17 loss to the University of Idaho at the Kibbie Dome.

Ferriter, a redshirt freshman who walked on with the Bobcats, was credited with one assisted tackle in the loss.

During Butte Central’s run to the 2014 state championship game, Ferriter was named Defensive MVP of the Southwestern A. He was named All-State following a season that saw him register five sacks in the semifinal win at Whitefish.

The 6-foot-4, 220 pound Ferriter, who wears No. 99 for the Bobcats, was also a starter for the Maroons on the offensive line. He played that position for the West side in the 2015 Montana East-West Shrine Game. He was also a standout in track and basketball for the Maroons.

The Bobcats player their home opener Sept. 10 against Bryant.
