WHITEFISH — Emilee Maldonado of the University of Providence and David Harris of MSU-Northern were named the Frontier Conference Basketball Players of the Week, the league announced today.
Maldonado was named the women’s top player, while Harris took home the men’s award.
Maldonado, a 5-foot-5 senior guard from Sunnyside, Washington, led the way as Providecne went 2-1 on the week. The Argos beat Northern 73-57. They then split their weekend series with Montana Western, losing 66-52 on Saturday before winning 67-64 on Sunday.
She averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists and one steal. She was 19 of 31 from the field including 11 of 18, 3-point field goals and 1 of 2 from the free throw line.
Brynley Fitzgerald of Montana Western, Tiara Gilham of MSU-Northern and Dani Wagner of Carroll College were also nominated.
Harris, a 6-4 senior guard from Tacoma, Washington, led the Lights to two wins over Rocky. Northern won 71-55 on Saturday and 68-58 on Sunday.
For the weekend, Harris averaged 19.5 points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and one steal per game. He was 14 of 23 from the field including 6 of 12, 3-point field goals and 5 of 5 from free throw line.
Dennis Flowers III of Carroll College was also nominated.
