Loggers top Maroons for third-place trophy

HAMILTON — Butte Central’s girls’ basketball team will represent the Western A as the No. 4 seed at the March 7-9 Class A State tournament in Great Falls.

The Maroons settled for fourth Saturday afternoon, falling 36-30 in the third-place game of the Western A Divisional tournament on the Dale Berry Court. (Stats)

Jayden Winslow scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists to lead the Loggers (17-9). McKenzie Profitt and Alli Collins each scored four points in the win. Proffitt pulled down six boards.

Tricia Joyce scored nine points to lead the Maroons, who punched their ticket to state with a win over Hamilton earlier Saturday at the Hamilton Middle School.

Sofee Thatcher scored eight points for BC (11-13). The Maroons also got four points from Amira Bolton and Emma Keeley, two from Delaney Hasquet and Shea Davis, and one from Madde Kump. Taylor Harrington and Bella Sorini also contributed for BC.
