BOZEMAN — The Laurel Locomotives are the kings of Class A basketball.
Laurel got 18 points from Tyler Thompson to lead the way Saturday night as the Locomotives beat Dillon 61-52 in the championship game of the Class A State boys’ basketball tournament at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Stats
The victory gave the Locomotives (18-6) their second state title under head coach Pat Hansen. Laurel won the 2010 crown at the Butte Civic Center.
Dillon (21-2) finished runner up for the second straight season. The loss was the first by the Beavers to a Class A opponent all season.
Jason Ferris scored 20 points to lead the Beavers, who also got eight points from J.D. Ferris, Justin Ferris and Tanner Haverfield.
