Little Sullivan postponed

The Montana AAU Little Sullivan Banquet and the Montana AAU Convention set to be held at Fairmont Hot Springs May 8-9 have been postponed, a spokesman said this morning.

The postponement has been forced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mike Ward, the committee chairman for the Little Sullivan award, said the committee is looking to reschedule both events.

Voting for the finalists has been extended until May 31.

Butte High senior Catherine Russo is a finalist for the prestigious Little Sullivan Award. Other female finalists are McKenzie Johnston of Helena, Paige Harris of Plentywood and Teigan Avery of Kalispell. Male finalists are Gresh Jones of Sidney, Jason Ferris of Dillon, Tres Tinkle of Missoula and Dane Warp of Havre.

Russo would be the fourth Mining City athlete to win the award. Past winners from Butte are Kathy (Bender) Means in 1969, Erin Popovich in 2005 and Bryon Wilson in 2010.
