Lights slow down Diggers

HAVRE — MSU-Northern’s men’s basketball team avoided its second loss in almost two months Saturday night, beating the Orediggers 57-50 at the Armory Gymnasium. (Stats)

Kavon Bey scored 17 points to lead the Lights, who led 32-23 at halftime. David Harris and Mascio McCadey each tossed in 13 points in the win. Harris added 10 rebounds for Northern, which improved to 13-9 overall and 3-7 in the Frontier Conference.

Taylor England’s 13 points and 12 rebounds led the Orediggers (14-7, 6-4), who are tied for second place in the league with the University of Providence. Tech had won 10 out of 11 games entering the contest.

Derrius Collins and Sindou Diallo scored 10 points in the loss, and Dylan Pannabecker added nine. Also for the Orediggers, Troy Owens Jr. scored four points, and Drew Huse and Christian Jones each scored two.

The Orediggers will be back in action Thursday with a Frontier Conference showdown with Carroll College in Helena.
