MSU-Northern’s basketball teams left town with a doubleheader sweep over Montana Tech Thursday night.
The Lights held off a charging Oredigger squad to take the nightcap, winning the men’s game 61-58 at the HPER Complex. Stats
The win puts the Lights at 4-7 in Frontier Conference play and 16-8 overall. The defeat is a crushing blow to the playoff hopes of the Orediggers, who fell to 1-10 and 6-17 with their fourth straight loss.
Warren Edmondson scored 13 points and grabbed six rebound to lead the Lights. K.J. Rech, who scored 11 points, was the only other Light in double figures. Trevail Lee, Badhasa Margarsa and David Straughter each scored eight points.
Cruz Ginns Jr. scored 17 points to lead the Orediggers. He also pulled down six rebounds. Jalen Coates tossed in 16 points, while Paul Engstrom posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Orediggers also got six points form Kale Guldseth, five from Lukas Vining and two from Akeem Williams.
Montana Tech is back in action Saturday when they play host to the University of Great Falls. The Orediggers went on the road to beat the Argos last month.
