Butte native Lexie Nelson is one of four nominees for the best female athlete award tonight at the fifth annual EeeWoos tonight in Cheney, Wash.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. at the Showalter Auditorium on the Eastern Washington Campus.
Nelson, a 2010 Butte High graduate, was nominated for the award after averaging 14.0 points per game and earning first-team All-Big Sky Conference honors this past season.
Nelson, who is Butte High’s all-time leading scorer, led the Big Sky in free throw percentage (87.3 percent in league games). Her 84.5 percent overall free throw percentage ranked 27th nationally.
The University of Montana transfer scored in double figures in all but four Big Sky games. She scored more than 20 points three times, including a 24-point performance against Idaho State.
Nelson, a sophomore, is the only underclassman nominated for the award. Other nominees are soccer player Cassie Black, track athlete Michelle Coombs and tennis player Moira Hedberg.
