When he won the 205-pound State Champion in February, Butte High senior Lee Cannon said he was “on top of the world.”
This fall, Cannon will be a Minot State Beaver. Cannon has committed to wrestle for the NAIA school in Minot, North Dakota, according to a report by Al Balderas in The Montana Standard.
The newspaper first reported on the story today.
Cannon beat Missoula Big Sky’s Conner Gordon in a 3-2 championship battle to capture the title on Valentine’s Day at MetraPark in Billings. He ended the season with a 19-5 record.
He made a podium appearance for the third time in his career. He placed fourth as a 170-pound sophomore and again as a 195-pound junior.
“This feels pretty cool,” Cannon told ButteSports.com’s Pat Ryan just before ascending the podium to accept his gold medal. “I’m on top of the world.”
