Lee blast propels Miners to season-saving win

LIVINGSTON — Aidan Lee hit a three-run home run in the first inning today, and the Butte Miners kept their season alive with a 7-3 win over the Helena Reps at Livingston Legion Field. (Boxscore)

The victory sends the Miners to a 5 p.m. loser-out game of the Southern A District tournament against Bozeman. The Bucs outslugged Dillon 12-11 this morning. The winner of that game plays at 10 a.m. Sunday for a chance to advance to the Class A State tournament. (Bracket)

After Kian O’Neill singled and Eric “Chooch” Hart doubled, Lee blasted 1-1 pitch over the wall in center field to put the Miners in the lead for good. The home run came with one out.

Butte scored three more in the fourth to break open a 4-3 lead.

Lee added a single and a pair of walks while driving in four runs on the game. O’Neill joined Hart with a double, and Egan Lester poked a pair of singles. Evan Star and Sean Ossello also singled for the Miners.

Rye Doherty pitched into the fifth, striking out five and giving up just one earned run, to get the victory. Eyston Lakkala got the final seven outs, five by way of the K, to get the save.

Eric Cockhill, Will Lyng, Lance Bratlien and Matthew Golemon singled for the Reps.
