OPPORTUNITY — Three Butte golfers captured division titles Wednesday at the Anaconda Challenge.
The tournament played at the Anaconda Country Club was the third stop of the season for the Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour. (Leaderboard)
Kendyllen Lean, Brenner Booth and Jack Muhlstein of Butte topped their respective divisions.
Lean won the Nelly Korda Division for girls’ 16-17. She fired a 102 to edge Butte High teammate Taylor Sullivan by one shot.
Booth shot a 75 on the par-70 course to claim victory in the Patrick Cantlay Division for boys 14-15. Butte’s Chase Choquette placed a close second with a 77. Zachary Taylor of Butte took third at 86.
Muhlstein shot a 50 over nine holes to win the Jordan Spieth Division for boys 13 and under. Teagan Yelenich of Butte was one back at 51. Cohen Stajcar took third at 56, one shot better than fellow Butte golfer Connor Kachmarik.
Carson Richie of Hamilton shot a 75 to win the Scotty Scheffler Division for boys 16-17. Butte’s Jacob Sawyer placed second at 79. Anaconda’s Tanner Cromwell placed third with an 80.
Maryah Lindsay of Clancy shot a 92 to run away with the top spot in the Lexi Thompson Division for girls 14-15, and Evyn Smith of Melrose was the lone player in the Danielle Kang division for girls 13 and under. She shot a 67 over nine holes.
The Tour will have a quick turnaround before it stops again. The Hamilton Masters is set for Monday at the Hamilton Golf Club. The Fairmont Invitational is set for July 11.
