The Butte club overcame a 1-0 deficit with two runs in the eighth. The Knockers took command with four more runs in the ninth.
The rally made a winner out of Connor Phelan, who threw three shutout innings. He relieved starter Jeremy Husband, who struck out seven in five strong innings. Dylan Wilhelm closed out the win by striking out two in a perfect ninth.
Miles Hartsfield doubled, and Nick Hansen singled and drove in three runs to lead the Tommyknocker offense. Carter Dobrinski, Jake Mastillo, Justin Greene and Judah Wilbur added singles in the win. Mastillo drove in two runs.
Lucas Danielewicz and Joey Grabanski each hit a pair of singles to lead the Spuds.
The teams will play the rubber match of the three-game series on Thursday. The Tommyknockers then head to Casper, Wyoming for a three-game series with the Horseheads.
