Lady Maroons drop one to very solid Dillon team

The Lady Maroons hosted the second of the double header tonight as they welcomed a very good Dillon Beavers squad to town. Ali Stajcar started the scoring off from a nice feed Rylee Forbes for a quick two, that was answered back by a Beaver 3 ball early on. Kenley Graham would can another Dillon triple for the Beavers on their next possession.

Kenzie McQueary would hit a nice jumper for 2 for the Maroons but Dillon had a response each time down hitting 3 ball after 3 ball to blossom their early first quarter lead to 16-4 with 6 minutes gone by. After a couple of early buckets, the Maroons couldn’t find a bucket as Dillon played a swarming zone D and would take a 20-4 lead with them to the second quarter.

Dillon continued to pressure the ball and control the tempo as they began the 2nd quarter with two quick buckets and forcing another Maroon turnover. Dillon outsized the young Maroons down low and continued to attack them.

On the Beavs next possession they’d splash home another deep triple to extend their lead to 29-4 with 5 minutes to play in the half. Time out Butte Central. Dillon kept up the pressure and forced more turnovers leading to another bucket down low for Dillon.

Kat Lalicker made a nice crossover dribble to split the Dillon zone on her way to the basket getting fouled and hitting one of two at the line, 34-5 Dillon with 3:40 to play in the half. After a Dillon 3 ball Zay Otherbull knocked down a corner triple, and the Maroons next time down she put in a jumper from the short corner for 2 more Maroon points. 42-10 with just under minute to play in the half.

Arika Stajcar knocked down a 3 on a dish from Zay Otherbull just before time expired and Dillon took a 46-13 lead to the locker room.

As the second half began the Beavers continued to pull away from the Maroons with their swarming defense and ball movement on the offensive end.

Dillon held Butte Central to just 9 second half points and would go on to spoil the Maroons senior night in convincing fashion 74-22.

The girls will play their final regular season game at home next Friday as they welcome the Corvallis Blue Devils to town.
