MISSOULA — The University of Montana women’s basketball team will have a new head coach next season.
Multiple media outlets report that the school informed Shannon Schweyen that her contract will not be renewed Wednesday.
The Grizzlies went 52-69 in four seasons under Schweyen. That includes a 17-13 mark this past season.
Schweyen also coached 24 years as a Grizzly assistant before replacing legendary Montana coach Robin Selvig.
As a player, Shannon (Cate) Schweyen will go down as the greatest Grizzly of all time. She averaged 18.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game over her four-year career at Montana. Her Grizzlies went 103-18, advancing to the NCAA Tournament four straight years.
Following her senior season in 1991-92, Schweyen became the Big Sky Conference’s only first-team Kodak All-American.
