Lady Griz fall in opener

SPOKANE — Jasmine Hassell poured in 16 points to lead four Bulldogs in double figures Saturday to lead Georgia to a 70-50 victory over the University of Montana in the first round of the women’s NCAA Tournament.

Shacobla Barbee scored 13 points to go along with seven rebounds, while Jasmine James netted 11 and Anne Marie Armstrong scored 10.

Anaconda’s Torry Hill scored 11 points to lead the Grizzlies, who close the season with a 24-8 record. Jordan Sullivan scored eight, and Katie Baker tossed in seven. Anaconda’s Ali Hurley closed out her UM career with four points.

No. 4-seeded Georgia (26-6) moves on to play No. 5 Iowa State, which beat Gonzaga 72-60. Montana was the No. 13 seed in the Spokane Region.
