MISSOULA — The second and third quarters proved to be the downfall of the Montana Tech women’s basketball team Thursday night.
The University of Montana outscored the Orediggers 50-24 over the middle two quarters, and the Lady Griz beat Tech 81-49 in an exhibition game at Dahlberg Arena. (Stats)
Katie Mayhue scored 11 points off the bench to lead the Griz, who 13 players score points in the win. Sophia Stiles, also a reserve player, scored 10. Gabi Harrington, Taylor Goligoski and Abby Anderson each scored eight.
Sophomore Mollie Peoples came off the bench to lead the Orediggers in scoring for the second straight night. Peoples hit three 3-pioners and scored 11 points. Freshman Dani Urick scored nine points for the Orediggers.
Tech also got seven points form Lana Berg, five from Chelestina Faletoi and Mesa Williams, and four apiece from Kaylee Zard, Sharlei Graham-Bernisto and Shay Potter. Zard also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
The Orediggers are off until Dec. 29 when they head to Helena to take on Carroll College.
