Lady Dogs tame Wolfpack for second straight win

By John Robbins

Butte High Bulldogs 49 Glacier Wolfpack 35

The Lady Bulldogs returned to action tonight after their Tuesday night victory against Butte Central. The Game started off to a slow pace as the Wolfpack and Bulldogs went toe-to-toe in the first half in a low scoring affair.

That trend would roll into the second half as well as the Lady Dogs held a 4-point advantage with 1:53 to go in the 3rd quarter, until Emmarie Richards got a fast break bucket for two, 28-22 Bulldogs.

Glacier would get fouled and sent to the line and knock down both their free throws to cut it to 4, the Wolfpack would run a trap and force a Bulldog turnover leading to a charge taken by Butte High.

The Bulldogs would come down on their very next possession and drain a three ball from Cadence Graham, 31-24 Lady Bulldogs 31 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Butte High made their possessions count as they got one more leading to great ball movement and a lay in for Brityn Stewart to give the Bulldogs a 33-24 advantage after 3 quarters.

The Bulldogs picked up right where they left off with great ball movement and slashing as Brityn Stewart would kiss one off the glass just inside the free throw line to open the scoring in the 4th for the Bulldogs. Glacier would be fouled next time down and sink both shots at the line, 35-26 Butte High two minutes into the final frame. The Wolfpack would cash in another layup to trim the lead to 7 with 5 minutes to go.

Laura Rosenleaf was all over the place rebounding, blocking shots and creating a lot of opportunities for Butte High, Brityn “Big Shot” Stewart took a three from the top of the key and hit nothing but the bottom of the net.

Butte would lead 40-30 with 4:23 to go, and a timeout was taken.

Glacier would knock down a three ball to cut the lead to 8 with 3 minutes to go leading to a Butte High Timeout.

The Bulldogs would get a faster break lay in from Dylann Bartoletti after breaking the press, they would knock down some more free throws and do what they needed to do to take care of business tonight at home.

The Lady Bulldogs win this one 49-35 in a well-played big second half.

The Bulldogs had three players score in double figures tonight, Cadence Graham, and Laura Rosenleaf each had 11, Emmarie Richards had 10, Brityn Stewart tossed in another 9, Dylann Bartoletti had 4 and Brooke Groesbeck had 3 for the Dogs.

Butte High will turn right around and face the Braves tomorrow at Butte High.
