Butte High Bulldogs (1-2) – 36 Dillon Beavers (5-0) – 51

For the second time this season, the Dillon Beavers girls’ basketball team played host to a team from Butte. This time it was the Lady Bulldogs who faced up against Dillon.

As we learned from the match-up against Butte Central, the Beavers are aggressive with the full-court press which made it difficult for the Lady Maroons to find a rhythm offensively. The game plan did not change for coach John Hansen and the Beavers as the defense proved too vigilant for the Bulldogs to handle. Dillon remains undefeated with a 51-36 win over Butte High.

The main takeaway was Dillon’s ability to hit the three-pointer, primarily from Halie Fitzgerald who was 5/8 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bulldogs were 3/16 from three-point range with all three makes coming from Emmarie Richards.

Trailing 42-20 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, the Bulldogs found some rhythm offensively by scoring 9 unanswered points and finishing with 16 points in the quarter while holding Dillon to just 9 points in the quarter. When it was all said and done, it was a good effort from coach Bryan Arntson and the Lady Bulldogs to finish strong against a young and dangerous team out of Dillon.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by senior Emmarie Richards who finished the game strong with 15 points. Senior Laura Rosenleaf notched 7 points while maintaining her status as the “queen of rebounds”. Payton Clary finished with 5 points. Taylor Drakos, Taylor Bushman, and eighth-grader Cadence Graham each scored two points.

Dillon was carried in-large by Halie Fitzgerald who scored 20 points on the night. Kylie Konen scored 13 points, ten of which being inside the paint. Sydney Peterson was a perfect 4/4 on the free throw line as she finished with 8 points. Kenleigh Graham, who was absent in the game against Butte Central, finished with 8 points. Josie Robbins added 3, Ariel Thomas scored 2, and Leila Stennerson notched a free-throw.

This was the Lady Bulldogs final game of 2022. The Lady Bulldogs (1-2) travel north to Kalispell to face the Glacier Wolfpack (1-3) on Jan. 6th at 6:00pm MST. This begins western conference play for the Bulldogs.
