Knights deny Bulldog girls

MISSOULA — Missoula Hellgate’s girls’ basketball team held Butte High to just 11 points in the first half Saturday, and the Knights stayed unbeaten with a 48-27 Western AA win over the Bulldogs.

Alex Coville, a 6-foot-5 junior, poured in 17 points to lead Hellgate (7-0 overall, 3-0 in conference), which led 8-2 after the first quarter and 22-11 at halftime.

Hellgate took a 29-15 advantage into the final quarter and extended the lead with a 19-11 frame.

Bailee Sayler added nine points for the Knights. Perry Paffhausen scored eight, and Keke Davis netted five.

Kodie Hoagland’s eight points led the Bulldogs. Ashley Olson scored seven points, while Tyler Clary scored six. Butte High also got two apiece from Payton Clary, Laura Rosenleaf and Emmarie Richards.

Next up for the Bulldogs is a Tuesday showdown with Missoula Big Sky at the Butte Civic Center.
