It turn out Kevin Peoples won’t be reuniting with Bobby Petrino on the Western Kentucky football coaching staff after all.
According to reports, Peoples, a 1989 Butte Central graduate, will join head coach Garrick McGee at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Peoples, a four-year starter at linebacker at Carroll College, spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Arkansas. He coached on the defensive line last year.
Peoples’ coaching career includes stops at Carroll, Blinn Community College in Texas, Northwestern State University, Northern Arizona, Central Missouri and Arkansas State. He also coached one season for the Las Vegas team in the XFL.
Last month, reports said Peoples rejoined Petrino, who was fired by Arkansas following last year’s high-profile extra-marital scandal, at Western Kentucky.
Peoples resigned that post and accepted a job on the UAB staff this weekend, one report said. It is unclear as to what position Peoples will coach at UAB.
UAB hasn’t announced the hiring.
