NEW ORLEANS — Kevin Peoples has landed in the Big Easy.

The 1989 Butte Central graduate has joined head coach Willie Fritz’s coaching staff at Tulane University. Peoples will serve as the defensive line coach.

The school announced the hiring late last week.

Peoples, who was a four-year starter at linebacker at Carroll College, heads to the Green Wave following a two-year stint at the same position for Fritz at Georgia Southern.

In Peoples’ final season at Georgia Southern in 2015, the defensive line ranked first in the league and 24th nationally in rushing defense (130.9 avg) and second and 24th nationally in total defense (338.1).

In 2014, the Eagles won the Sun Belt Championship.

The son of Don and Kathy Peoples of Butte, Peoples also had coaching stops at Carroll, Blinn Community College in Texas, Northwestern State University, Northern Arizona, Central Missouri, Arkansas State, Arkansas and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He coached one season for the Las Vegas team in the XFL.

Kevin Peoples is the brother of Butte Central head coach Don Peoples Jr. and BC assistant Doug Peoples.

Fritz, who was the head coach at Georgia Southern, was hired as the Tulane head coach on Dec. 15. 2 comments
