Kaven Noctor one out at Junior Championships

BILLINGS — Butte’s Kaven Noctor is one shot out of the lead in the boys’ 16-18 division after the first day of the Montana State Junior Championship.

Noctor fired a 1-over-par 73 at Lake Hills Golf Course on Monday. He is one shot back of Billings golfer J.R. Small. Noctor is tied with Billing’s Brady Cady for second place.

Blake Finn of Big Timber is fourth at 74. Jack Thorsen of Bozeman and Tucker Pietrykowski of Great Falls are tied at 75.

Butte’s Kodie Hoagland is tied for fifth place in the girls’ 14-15 age group. Hoagland shot a 93 along with Sarah Halferty of Helena and Hannah Adams of Laurel.

Laurel’s Haylee Adams leads the division at 86. Kadence Fischer of Laurel is second at 88.

The final round of the two-day tournament begins with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The tournament is a qualifier for the Junior America’s Cup and the Montana-Alberta Junior Ryder Cup.

Noctor and Hoagland qualified for the state tournament two weeks ago in Bozeman.
