Kaven Noctor keeps going at Hoop Shoot

Butte fifth grader Kaven Noctor will be taking his free throw shooting talents to South Dakota.

Noctor won the boys’ 10-11 age group of the Elks Hoop Shoot state championships Saturday in Livingston. Noctor, who turns 11 on Feb. 26, sank 21 of 25 free throws to take home the state title. He qualified for the state shoot by winning a regional shoot in Anaconda.

The title earned Noctor an all-expense-paid trip to the Northwest Central Region 2 Hoop Shoot Semi-Final, which is March 2 in Rapid City. There, Noctor has a chance to earn a spot in the national shoot in Springfield, Mass.

Noctor plays for the West Elementary fifth-grade boys’ basketball team, which is coached by Gary Burt. He also plays on the “Butte Boys” traveling league team coached by Keith Ogolin.
