Kaven Noctor claims Highland View title

Kaven Noctor can add a couple of titles to his impressive golf résumé Sunday.

The 2020 Butte High graduate followed Saturday’s 71 with another 1-over-par 71 to win the Highland View Men’s Invitational with a 142 total at the municipal golf course. The tournament also doubles as the city championship, and Noctor took home the Open title.

Montana Tech senior Isaiah Weldon, also a Butte High grad, placed second at 144. He followed a 71 with a 73. Jake Sharon, who shot a final-round 72, tied with Mark Hodges for third place at 148.

Hodges, who won the tournament in 1983, shot a 74 each day to win the Super Senior city championship.

First-day leader Kevin Mellott shot a 79 for a 149 to tie for fifth overall with Don Foley, who improved one shot for a 74. Mellott won the Senior city championship as well as the first flight.

Anthony O’Connor won the second flight, Walter Tintinger topped the field in the third flight, Jess LaBoff took the fourth flight, and John Guardipee and Neil Duddy tied for the title in the fifth flight.
