Kautzman no-no highlights Miners sweep of A’s

ANACONDA — Casey Kautzman threw a no-hitter to stand out on a day full of Butte Miners stand outs.

Kautzman’s no-no closed Miners sweep of the Anaconda A’s in a Southern A American Legion Baseball twin bill Sunday at Washoe Park.

The Miners won the opener 22-0 before winning the second game 13-0. Both games were called by the 10-run rule, the first one after five and the second after six.

Butte pounded 30 hits in scoring 35 runs, and two pitchers went the distance for a victory. Ryan Richards blanked the A’s in the opener.

The wins lifted Butte’s conference record to 8-6.

Butte will play Anaconda again in a doubleheader on Friday. The Miners will celebrate “Digger Day” in honor of their partnership with Montana Tech in the twin bill that begins at 6:30 p.m.

While Richards was dealing on the bump, Ryan Wahl was crushing it in the box.

Wahl went 3 for 4 with two home runs, four runs scored and six RBIs to lead the Miners offense. Leadoff hitter Egan Lester also had a monstrous first game, going 3 for 4 with a double and four RBis.

Eric Hart went 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs, while Coyt Stajcar went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Aidan Lee tripled for Butte, while Hunter Bugni hit two singles. Peyton Hettick, Kautsman, Riley Chiotti, Kian O’Neill and Ryan Burt also singled in the win.

Richards gave up just one hit in the victory. He struck out seven and worked around six walks.

Luke Jensen singled for Anaconda’s lone hit in 11 innings.

Butte 13, Anaconda 0
Kautzman struck out six batters and walked three. He needed just 79 pitches to get through the six innings.

Lee tripled and singled to lead the Miner attack that put the game away with five runs in the sixth inning.

Wahl, Richards and Kenley Leary doubled in the win. Leary and Richards also hit singles. Lester hit two singles, while Carsen Dodge and hart each hit one.
